RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CONTRACT AWARD FOR THE NORTH METROPOLITAN AREA INDUSTRIAL STUDY

Summary and Background Information:
Resolution 2016-102 awards a contract to the selected consultant and authorizes the City Manager to execute a professional services contract on behalf of the City.
Project Description:
Commerce City, in partnership with Adams County and the City & County of Denver, received a $700,000 federal grant from the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) to conduct a North Metropolitan Industrial Area Connectivity Study that will identify critical travel sheds on the state and interstate highway system, and the local arterial and major collector street system, west-to-east from I-25 to Quebec, and then south-to-north from Martin Luther King Boulevard/32nd Avenue to I-270/U.S. 85 & 60th to SH 2. The grant is federal funded and will be administered by the Colorado Department of Transportation as a local agency project. The city is serving as contract administrator and project manager for this multi-agency project.
Project Goals:
The goals of the Project are as follows:
· Identify preferred alternatives for connectivity projects that will improve the local transportation network within the study area.
· Identify implementation phasing strategies that could maximize connectivity benefits for stakeholders within the study area.
· Provide high-level analysis of environmental resources in the study area that may be impacted by transportation alternatives
· Establish planning-level concept designs and cost estimates for each identified alternative in order to pursue regional and/or federal funding opportunities
