Call To Order/Roll Call - 5:30pm

Iona LongSoldier called the meeting to order at 5:36pm.  
In attendance are: Iona LongSoldier, Scott Vanhuesen, Ana LeScoezec, Sol Shaw,  
Bianca Gonzalez-De la Rosa, Cynthia Montez, and Councilmember Renee Chacon  
Absent: Vanina Capitaine, Marco Vega, Councilmember Craig Kim  
Approval of Minutes

Scott Vanhuesen motioned to approve minutes from March 28th meeting. The motion  
was seconded by Iona LongSoldier, which was approved unanimously.

Everyone shared what they are looking forward to this spring.  
Juneteenth Celebration  
A. Budget  
Staff presented budget for event including detailed activities and costs.  
Committee decided to not include stage/power/sound as park of the budget this year.  
Scott moved to approve the budget of $6,905.13 for the event. Iona seconded the  
motion, which was approved unanimously.  
B. Planning Update  
Juneteenth Planning Committee members are Iona LongSoldier, Scott Vanhuesen,  
and Vanina Capitaine.  
Group discussed items to include at event either this year or at future events.  
- Having information at black history in Colorado and Commerce City in particular  
available  
- Partnership with other community organizations such as the school district  
- Focusing on black owned businesses and potentially having a market  
- Number of presenters for the event: it was determined we shouldn't have too many  
for this year due to time constraints  
- Live DJ/entertainment options  
It was agreed that we would approach the City about expanding the event in future  
years, including more time for other activities.  
Retreat Prep

Retreat is this Saturday, April 27th from 9am-1pm at Bison Grill at Buffalo Run Golf  
Course. Committee should RSVP to staff. Iona motioned to have the breakfast at the  
retreat paid for by the Commission, which was seconded by Scott Vanhuesen. This  
was approved unanimously.

Staff has sharepoint ready for committee and will share a link. Subcommittee meeting  
for Juneteenth event planning will be May 14th at 5:30pm.
