A regular meeting of the Citizens Public Safety Advisory Board was called to order by  
Chair Bierwiler on October 23, 2025, at 4:04 PM.

Crime Prevention Unit Updates  
- Sergeant Evans shared a list of upcoming events the Crime Prevention Unit will be  
participating, including multiple Trunk-or- Treat locations.  
- A new Neighborhood Watch Group has been established in the Buffalo Mesa  
neighborhood.  
- Board discussed the benefits of Neighborhood Watch groups, with particular  
emphasis on holiday-season concerns, including an increase in porch piracy.  
- The first crime Tip of the Month was shared on our social media platforms and based  
on Cyber Security.

- Status of funding for permanent substation  
The second reading to approve this item is scheduled for November 3rd. If approved,  
groundbreaking is anticipated to occur in April of 2026.  
-Costumes with a Cop  
The 3rd Annual Costumes with a Cop event was held on Saturday, October 11th, and  
was well attended. Nearly 300 costumes were distributed during the event.  
- A brief discussion ensued regarding the SWAT hit that occurred on October 22nd.  
- Deputy Chief Sadar informed board of the upcoming Cadet graduations, four will be  
graduating from Flatrock Academy and two from Arapahoe Community College.  
- In 2026 the Police Department will launch a Reserve Program. The purpose of a  
reserve volunteers will be to enhance public safety during large-scale and off-duty  
events by assisting with crowd control and transporting subjects to ACDF, as needed.

- Deputy Chief Smathers gave an update of our K9 unit

- CALEA Accreditation  
The department received the official report recognizing CCPD as an accredited  
agency.  
- 2025 IACP Conference  
Staff who attended the conference reported a positive experience, participating in  
numerous courses and reviewing new and emerging tools currently available to law  
enforcement agencies.  
- Real-Time Crime Center  
Demolition of the former Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is to begin on October  
27th and will be redeveloped to accommodate the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC).  
The RTCC is projected to be fully operational by December 31st. goal of having this  
center fully operational is December 31st. RTCC Technicians are on track to start on  
November 3rd. Chief also shared a little bit about a high vision piece of equipment that  
he plans to incorporate to our RTCC.  
- Recruitment  
A second co-responder is currently in the background check process.

- Due to the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday's the board has decided to combine  
both meetings, Next meeting will be on December 16, 2025 at 4PM.
