Call To Order/Roll Call

Meeting was called to order at 6:04pm.  
In attendance: Councilmember Douglas, Jen Martin, Ronna Sanchez, Jackie Riggs  
Gonzales, Nick Gonzales, Augusta Jonhart, Tyler Vitello, and Deana Hall. Also  
attending is Elena Smith from Sand Creek Regional Greenway.  
Absent: Mayor Pro Tem Noble, Kelly Reyos, Omar Lozano, and Jade Humphries.

It was announced that Jan Cruz and Cynthia Montez both moved out of state over the  
winter break, and so they are no longer board members.  
Approval of Minutes  
November Meeting Minutes  
Jackie moved to approve the November meeting minutes. Kristi seconded the motion,  
which was approved unanimously.

Speaker - Sand Creek Regional Greenway  
Elena Smith presented information about their recent youth public art project. They  
proposed installing the piece permanently at Eagle Point Rec Center. If so, Parks Rec  
and Golf would inform Sand Creek Regional Greenway of any maintenance needs and  
the Sand Creek team would be responsible.  
The group decided that before approving the installation, they would need Elena to  
show the piece in person at Eagle Point Rec Center for a more in depth look at the  
space. Staff will coordinate a time to share with the group.  
Grants & Finance Monthly Update

a. 2025 SCFD grant brainstorm  
Group discussed, and wanted to start a doc with brainstorm ideas for the future.  
For this grant cycle, they want to pursue adding an art activation and poetry slam to the  
DEI Commission's Juneteenth celebration in 2026. A subcommittee meeting will be  
scheduled for additional discussion and planning.

a. Music in the Park

Stage & sound contract with Mountain West - $16k (increase from previous years)  
Band contracts increased to $2k each from $1800. All 4 bands are confirmed.  
Food update - Staff is presenting to City Council on 1/27 all of their community events  
for 2025. Included in this proposal is providing free food and resources at all four MitP  
events.  
Group discussed starting a spreadsheet with different bands that have expressed  
interest.  
b. Public Art  
i. Cocklebur Budget  
Tyler moved to approve a budget for Cocklebur of up to $20k. Jackie seconded the  
motion, which was approved unanimously.  
ii. Art Selection Committee Application Review  
All applications were approved as discussed. Kelly will be the Cultural Council  
representative for CALU Park, and Tyler will serve on both Art Selection Committees.  
The call to artists will be sent to Cultural Council for review prior to posting.  
c. Art Exhibitions  
Subcommittee is still planning to meet for 2025 planning. Adams County Cultural  
Council has their own separate opportunities for those looking to present outside of  
Commerce City.  
Councilmember Douglas left the meeting  
d. Community Engagement & Partnerships  
i. MiniCon & other Q1 events  
Cultural Council decided to not be involved in Q1 events.  
New Business

Ronna left the meeting.  
New social media series - staff will post every other week with either a Where is it  
Wednesday promoting public art, or an Artist Spotlight highlighting one of our artists.  
Staff shared a resource for free attorney services Cultural Council could use.  
Community Well-Being would like public art in their new reception space. There was  
discussion if this could be a rotating art show space or a place to find permanent  
public art. The group first needs to know the budget, but will start discussing steps  
forward in subcommittee meetings.

The meeting adjourned at 8:04pm.  
Subcommittee Meetings will take place immediately following the meeting.  
There was not enough time in this meeting to meet as subcommittees, so this  
structure was moved to the next meeting to start.
