August 27, 2025, at 5:33 PM.

Board welcomed new members, Michelle Curry and Chrissy Chard, and shared  
introductions.  
Board discussed translations policy for meetings moving forward.  
Approval of Minutes  
May & June Minutes  
A motion was made by Commissioner Iona LongSoldier, seconded by  
Commissioner Michelle Curry, that the May & June Minutes be approved.

A motion was made by Council member Kim, seconded by Commissioner Gilliam, for

Chairperson Longsoldier nominated Commissioner Roman as Vice Chair, she  
accepted.  
A motion was made by Commissioner Michelle Curry, seconded by  
Commissioner Iona LongSoldier, for Ashley Roman to be elected Vice Chair.

Board discussed policy changes happening at the state level.  
i. Council Report  
Council member Kim shared that there will be a report from Police Department coming  
in December.  
ii. Upcoming Proclamations & Legislation  
Chairperson Longsolider to present Indigenous People's Day proclamation on 10/6 to  
City Council. Board asked about adding a proclamation for Native American Heritage  
Month to an upcoming City Council agenda ahead of November.  
iii. Clerk Office Update  
Staff shared update on Board & Commission attendance.  
b. Signature Events  
i. November Events  
Board discussed their upcoming Friday movie night event in celebration of Native  
American Heritage Month.  
c. Recruitment, Engagement & Partnerships  
i. SOAR & Backpack Giveaway Debrief  
Board volunteers shared feedback about both events.  
ii. Hispanic Heritage Table & Volunteers  
Subcommittee shared ideas to have at the DEI Commission's table for the Hispanic  
Heritage event on Sept 21, and the Board shared who would be available to attend.  
iii. Member Engagement Update  
The board has one vacancy, and plans to recruit at Hispanic Heritage event.  
d. Resource Compiling & Spanish Translations  
Subcommittee shared contacts they've made in the resource compiling project, and  
board discussed goals of the project.  
Other Business

a. Changing Monthly Meeting Time  
The monthly meeting time will stay the same.  
Staff reminded the Board of the upcoming meeting locations.  
September will be an in person meeting. October will meet virtually. November retreat  
is in person. No December meeting.  
b. Retreat Date  
A motion was made by Joanne Stranahan, seconded by Commissioner Iona  
LongSoldier, to hold the annual retreat on November 8, 2025 from 9am-1pm,  
and to cancel the November 26, 2025 meeting. VOTE:

c. September Agenda Setting  
The board wants to discuss what they can do in terms of social justice initiatives in  
September, and would welcome a speaker to help determine those answers.  
The board also wants to remove the ice breaker for this meeting to allow for that  
discussion, and leave room for a Hispanic Heritage event debrief.
