agendas.
On 7/7 there will be an Oil & Gas Update and an annual update from the Environmental
Policy & Innovation Commission.
Community Development Block Grant, which provides resources for residents in need,
will present their work plan to council on 7/21
ii. Upcoming Proclamations
Bianca will read the Hispanic Heritage proclamation on 8/18. Craig will move it off of
the agenda.
b. Signature Events (Deana, Joanne, Iona)
i. Juneteenth Debrief & Dreaming
WINS:
Great event with 500 people in attendance.
Great story from Telemundo.
Kept hearing it is "better than Aurora's event" - we think it was because of the park
location.
Great support from PW team. Food and entertainment was great. Swag was great.
Flag raising well attended, good speeches.
OPPORTUNITIES:
More activation of the stage as a focal point
More support for set up/clean up beyond PW
Need more water - reserve refill station like at Music in the Park
Spades tournament - good that Cultural Council switched it up with just playing cards
versus a tournament.
Yard games a little hidden. More a-frames for face painting and yard games.
BARRIERS?
Translations not necessary. Maybe look to see if we could reserve handicapped
parking.
Staff to send survey to vendors to gain feedback, share video coverage, and ask if it
was financially beneficial to those selling things.
c. Recruitment, Engagement & Partnerships (Michelle & Marco)
i. SOAR & Backpack Giveaway Details
Decided to hold Monday, 7/7 for backpack stuffing. Will solicit member availability for
both events over email.
