A regular meeting of the Citizens Public Safety Advisory Board was called to order by  
Chair Bierwiler on August 28, 2025, at 4:09 PM.

- Introduction of two new board members: Michael Pettine and Denise Romero.  
Crime Prevention Unit Updates  
- Adams City High School Homecoming Parade  
PTSD and Mental Health Assistance for Officers  
- Deputy Chief Smathers provided an overview of different programs and partnerships  
the police department currently has in place for officers and their families.  
Department/ Chief Updates

-CALEA Accreditation  
Chief shared his vision of prioritizing this accreditation and the amount of preparation it  
took for our on site assessment that is scheduled for September 8th - 10th.  
-Citizens Academy  
Tracee briefly shared her personal experience of having attended the first Citizens  
Academy in 2024. This years academy is scheduled to start on September 10th.  
-North Area Substation  
Chief shared some of the benefits of moving into the new temporary substation and  
informed the board of the tentative move in date; mid-September.  
- August 5th, National Night Out Event.  
- August 22nd was the 5th Annual Curt Holland Golf tournament. Event raised  
approximately $80k.  
- Department recently completed a sergeant assessment and have selected two new  
patrol sergeants.  
- A conditional job offer was extended to our first Co-Responder, tentatively scheduled  
to start in September.  
- Chief Guadnola will be presenting Council with the Police Department's Annual Report  
on September 15th.  
- Upcoming Coffee with a Cop is scheduled for Wednesday, October 1st. The event  
will take place at the Reunion Coffee House in the north area of the city and the  
Greyhound Grounds Coffee House in the south area.  
- Costumes with a Cop event on Saturday, October 11th.  
- Dia De Los Muertos event, Saturday, November 1st.  
- Operation Pole Patrol with Commander Claus - date TBD  
- Deputy Chief Sadar gave an update on the case involving the 35 animals and 3  
children from the north area of the city.  
- Chief Guadnola talked about the importance of State and Federal partnerships and  
explained CCPDs stance is it relates to immigration status.  
- Deputy Chief Smathers shared recent events that ended successfully with the help of  
our DFR program and Flock systems.  
Activities/ Events Attended by Board Since Last Meeting

- Jeff Turner will be participating in the Citizens Academy, plans to attend the Grace  
Baca 5k event, as well as the Youth Commission Town Hall meeting in October.  
- Carlos Tello intends on attending the Dia De Los Muertos event in November.  
- Tracee Perkins plans on participating in the Grace Baca 5k event.  
- Roxanne Nice intends on attending the Youth Commission Town Hall meeting along  
with Jeff T.  
Identify a Date for the Annual City Council Update
