Traffic Calming Policy Update - Recommended Revisions

Summary & Background

This presentation discusses recommended revisions to the City’s Traffic Calming Policy.

 

Staff presented City Council with an overview of the current Traffic Calming Policy at the 11 January 2021 City Council Study Session (see attached). City Council directed Staff to present recommended policy revisions. The attached presentation includes provides staff’s recommended revision to the Traffic Calming Policy.

 

Staff Responsible (Department Head): Joe Wilson, Director of Public Works

Staff Presenting: Brent Soderlin, City Engineer, Michael Renk, Traffic Engineer

 

Financial Impact: Financial impact to the City would be the installation of more traffic calming devices.

Funding Source: The CIPP budget includes money for Traffic Calming.

 

Staff Recommendation: Staff is recommending lower speed thresholds for the three (3) levels of traffic calming.
