Title

RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING A MAYORAL APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF THE COMMERCE CITY URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY

Body

Summary and Background Information

Currently, pursuant to § 31-25-104(2.5), the Commerce City Urban Renewal Authority (CCURA) consists of an even number of commissioners, including all members of the City Council plus 3 members appointed by the applicable school district (Adams 14), special district (here, SACFPD), and Adams County. When the board contains an even number of people, the Colorado Urban Renewal law directs that "the mayor shall appoint an additional commissioner to restore an odd number of commissioners to the authority."  The CCURA by-laws implement this requirement by authorizing the mayoral appointment upon the recommendation of the City Council.

After public advertisement, the Boards and Commissions council subcommittee received an application from Peter Buche to serve on the CCURA Board by mayoral appointment. The subcommittee interviewed Mr. Buche on Monday, January 4, 2021 and is recommending the Mayor, by resolution passed by the city council, appoint Mr. Buche as a commissioner of the CCURA board.
