Body

Summary and Background Information

In early 2020 the South Platte River Coalition, consisting of Mile High Flood District, Adams County, Brighton, Commerce City and Thornton, was formed to update the South Platte River Heritage Plan.  The plan covers approximately 17 miles of the South Platte River north of Denver. The update to this 20+ year old plan includes- Discovery: understanding challenges and opportunities, Public Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement, Visioning: refresh corridor vision, goals and objectives, Short Range Implementation Plan: quick wins, and Long Range Implementation Plan: Priorities of Projects.  A consultant has been chosen and work on the plan has begun and is expected to continue throughout 2021.  Mile High Flood District is providing over 75% of the funding at nearly $650,000, Adams County is providing $137,500 and Thornton, Commerce City and Brighton are contributing $25,000 each. Brighton will be contributing in 2021 and the IGA will be amended to include them at that time.
