Summary and Background Information

This contract provides for preliminary and final designs to replace two bridges, both of which are in poor condition.

 

The first bridge is on Potomac Street over the O’Brian Canal. The Potomac Street Bridge is located approximately 700 feet north of Highway 2 and exists as the only established means of access for the residential properties north of the O’Brian Canal.

 

The second bridge is the Peoria Street Bridge located over the Little Burlington Ditch. It is located approximately 30 feet south of East 112th Avenue on Peoria Street.

Financial Impact:  $552,505.40

Funding Source

 

                     The Potomac Street bridge budget is allocated as follows: $760,000 grant from CDOT, $552,460 from the Capital Improvements and Preservation Plan fund. For a total budget of $1,312,460.

 

                     The Peoria Street Bridge is funded from the Capital Improvements and Preservation Plan with no grant funding. The total budget is $670,905.

 

 

Staff RecommendationPublic Works recommends executing the contract with Alfred Benesch & Company.
