RESOLUTION AWARDING 2020 CONCRETE FLATWORK REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROJECT TO SILVA CONSTRUCTION, INC.

Summary and Background Information:
Annually, the City advertises and awards a contract for concrete flatwork in City right-of-way (ROW). The work to be performed under this contract includes removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk, curb ramps, cross pans, concrete pads, and related work at locations provided by the Commerce City Public Works Department. This project includes installation of sidewalk where none currently exists at locations where the City has ROW to proceed with construction.
Request for Bids (RFB): Posted on the City’s website and the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing system on April 20, 2020. Three bids were received on April 30, 2020. Silva Construction, Inc. was the low bidder for the project. This firm has performed work of this type in Commerce City previously.
Total Contract Value - $257,618: This includes replacement of concrete street panels on E. 56th Avenue and E. 104th Avenue, and replacement of curb, gutter, sidewalk, and pedestrian curb ramps in advance of the street resurfacing project. Currently, ROW has been acquired by the City for the following streets: Albion Street, E. 59th Avenue, E. 62nd Avenue, E. 63rd Avenue, E. 66th Avenue, Street, and Kearney Street.

Staff Recommendation: Public Works recommends that this contract be awarded to Silva Construction Inc.
