RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SELECTION OF REPUBLIC SERVICES, INC. TO PROVIDE THE CURBSIDE GARBAGE AND RECYCLING PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE A CONTRACT

 

Body

The current curbside refuse collection contract expires at the end of 2019.  On 8 July, Staff presented information to City Council on the current program and requested input on program elements for the 2019 Curbside Refuse Collection RFP (See Attachment #2).  Public Works published/advertised the RFP on 7 August, with bids due 3 September (See Attachment #3).  On 23 September, Staff presented City Council the RFP bid results, as well as, responses to supplemental questions/comments submitted by one of the respondents (See Attachments #4 & #5). Staff constructed/populated a RFP Response Worksheet to compile/compare each respondent’s submission(s) (See Attachment #6).

Staff Recommendation

Approve Resolution selecting Republic Services, Inc. to provide the Curbside Garbage and Recycling Program and authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract - for a term of up to five (5) years, subject to annual appropriation, for the base service as provided in the solicitation and any additional services or terms not involving a change in price, as the City Manager deems appropriate.
