Tri-County Health Department Update on the Plague

Summary and Background Information:
The Tri-County Health Department was notified on July 31, 2019 by the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge that a prairie dog had tested positive for the plague. Following the notification,
Commerce City staff also observed a lack of prairie dog activity in the Prairie Gateway Open Space and the area around DSGP.
Tri-County Health, The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Refuge, The cities of Denver and Commerce City have been coordinating efforts since the
notification to eradicate the plague and minimize risks to other animals and humans. Tri-County is the lead coordinating agency and they will provide an update
on the actions taken to-date and share general public health safety information.
