Summary and Background Information:
The City Council requested a study session about the City’s current regulations related to pit bulls, following comments during citizen communication from an Adams City High School student. Tonight’s presentation will review the circumstances that led the city to adopt breed specific legislation in 2005, though the passage of Ordinance 1593, banning pit bulls from Commerce City. The presentation will also give an update as to what other Colorado communities are doing with breed specific legislation and solicit feedback from the city council about any future actions they may desire, related to the current regulations.
