Summary and Background Information:
Annually the City advertises for and awards a contract for concrete flatwork in City rights-of-ways. The work to be performed under this contract includes removal and replacement of concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk, curb ramps, cross pans, concrete pads and related work, at locations to be provided by the Commerce City Public Works Department. Additionally, installation of sidewalk where none currently exist at locations where the City has right-of-way to proceed with construction.
A Request for Bids (RFB) was posted on the City’s website and the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing System on May 7, 2019. Three bids were received on May 17, 2019. Alpine Civil Constructors was the low bidder for the project. This firm has performed work of this type for new developments in Commerce City previously.
The total of this contract is $548,084. This includes replacement of concrete street panels on Quebec Parkway and E. 104th Avenue, and replacement of curb, gutter, sidewalk and pedestrian curb ramps in advance of street resurfacing project. Currently, right-of-way has been acquired by the City for the following streets:
o Highway 2 south of E. 64th Avenue, east side of street, 330 LF
o E. 69th Avenue east of Pontiac Street, north side of street, 690 LF
o E. 71st Place west of Locust Street, north side of street, 420 LF
o Kearney Court north of E. 70th Avenue, west side of street, 400 LF
o Locust Court south of near E. 69th Place, west side of street, 250 LF
o Oneida Street north of E. 62nd Avenue, west side of street, 1270 LF
