Title

RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR THE NOVEMBER 5, 2019 COORDINATED MAIL BALLOT ELECTION

Body

Summary and Background Information:  Municipal elections are the cornerstone of democracy.  Most of the things the government does that actually effect the community are decided at local elections.  Commerce City has been conducting their regular municipal election in coordination with other local jurisdictions within Adams County since 2011.  In order to participate in the coordinated election, the city must enter into an IGA with the county that outlines the duties of the clerk and recorder, duties of Commerce City, cost, and other responsibilities related to an election.  Entering into this IGA meets City Council Goal #2 and is a necessary component to meeting the 2019 Work Plan Objective of conducting our election with zero errors.

Council Goal:  Ensure a financially sound city government to maintain or improve levels of service

Council Outcome:  Municipal Legitimacy

Work Plan Objective:  Conduct the 2019 Municipal Election with zero errors by the date the election is certified by Adams County
