Recognition of Erin Mooney, Cultivando Executive Director

Body

Summary and Background Information:   Erin Mooney has served as the executive director for Cultivando, a local nonprofit dedicated to cultivating community leadership to advance healthy equity for Latino immigrants through advocacy, collaboration and policy change.

During her five year tenure, the organization has transformed, providing culturally-relevant trainings and programs using the Promotoras model. From leadership development, systems change, and engagement, to early childhood development, food systems, and advocacy, the Cultivando team has positively altered the civic landscape to increase the well-being of thousands of residents within Commerce City and Adams County.

The City’s partnership with Cultivando has only deepened under Erin’s leadership. The City continues to invest in policies and activities that advance Healthy Eating and Active Living principles. City Council adopted an inclusivity proclamation. The Latino Engagement Taskforce provides meaningful feedback for improved service delivery. The City secured a Healthy Places Initiative grant. Relationships were built with the Urban Land Conservancy. Spanish-language engagement increased.

Erin will be leaving her role as Cultivando’s executive director early next year to lead a larger nonprofit in Guatemala. The City remains committed to continuing our partnership with Cultivando and wishes to thank Erin for her service and contributions to building a Quality Community for a Lifetime.
