Summary and Background Information:  City Council employs a variety of tools to engage citizens and facilitate the two-way transfer of information. The purpose of tonight's discussion is to provide background information on the importance of engagement and current benchmarks, historical information on current tools and activities, and introduce new ideas for consideration, based on best practices of other jurisdictions. In addition to the attached presentation, a memo on the telephone and Spanish-language town halls are attached for reference as well as the 2017 community survey results and white papers on civic engagement from the National League of Cities.
