Summary and Background Information:
The South Adams County Fire District, headquartered within Commerce City, protects 74 square miles that include areas of residential, commercial, and industrial development, as well as all of Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge. The District has a blended career-volunteer force, serving the community with eight fire stations and contracted ambulance service. In 2016, the District responded to more than 2,000 calls for hazardous materials, motor vehicle crashes, and fires, and another 6,000 calls for emergency medical services.
Ken Koger joined the District in 1985 as a volunteer firefighter, advancing through the ranks to eventually serve as chief. He was elected to the South Adams County Fire District Board of Directors in 2006, achieving numerous accomplishments during his tenure. The City Council wants to recognize Mr. Koger for his years of service and dedication to the community as his term comes to an end.
