Summary and Background Information: The Daniels Scholarship Program provides a four-year annually-renewable college scholarship for graduating high school seniors in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and a commitment to serving their communities.
2,250 students applied for the Daniels Scholarship Program this year. Of the 238 students selected as 2018 Daniels Scholars, 146 are from Colorado, 30 are from New Mexico, 26 are from Utah, and 36 are from Wyoming. Five Commerce City youth received this prestigious honor, including:
• Jennifer Carrillo, Adams City High School
• Haaron Jimenez, Adams City High School
• Danya Mae Elliott, Prairie View High School
• Jaylene Mya Maes, Prairie View High School
• Jessica Vasquez Ramierez, Victory Preparatory Academy
With this year’s announcement, more than 3,950 students have received the Daniels Scholarship. At any given time, nearly 1,000 Daniels Scholars are attending more than 200 colleges and universities throughout the United States. Since 2000, more than $170 million in scholarships has been awarded through the Daniels Scholarship Program.
