For the first time, the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Commerce City by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its 2016 popular annual financial report (PAFR). The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports.
As the department responsible for preparing the award-winning PAFR, the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is awarded to the Commerce City Department of Finance. The PAFR was judged by an independent panel to meet the high standards of which includes demonstrating reader appeal, understandability, distribution, and other elements (such as whether the PAFR is a notable achievement for the government given the government’s type and size, and the PAFR’s creativity and usefulness). The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 19,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL, and Washington, D.C.
