Summary and Background Information: An application for a general business license was received October 6, 2017. The application was routed to the city's community development department and reviewed by both the planning division and building safety division. After the initial review, both divisions asked for more information regarding the business operation and an email was sent to the applicant on October 27, 2017. The applicant provided the requested information and the application was routed once again to both the planning division and building safety division of the community development department. On November 7, 2017, the city clerk's office received notification that the building official was recommending denial of the general business license application as a proposed home occupation because of the materials being used in the business. The city clerk sent a certified letter to the applicant on December 6, 2017, denying the application and affording the applicant the opportunity to appeal the decision.
