Bison Ridge Recreation Center Project Update

Body

Summary and Background Information: As part of the Measure 2K Bond Program, the City is building the new Bison Ridge Recreation Center located at approximately Highway 2 and 112th Ave. and associated infrastructure to include roadway improvements and utilities. Pinkard Construction was selected as the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) and awarded a contract for preconstruction services. A benefit of CM/GC delivery is the ability to overlap design and construction through the use of construction packages.  The new recreation center and infrastructure is being delivered through three packages:

Package A - Infrastructure

Package 1 - Building Site and Foundations

Package 2 - Building

Award of construction services for Package A - Infrastructure West was approved August 22, 2016, establishing the initial Guarenteed Maximum Price (GMP). The first amendment to incorporate Package 1 - Building Site and Foundations was approved October 3, 2016.  A second amendment incorporating Change Order No. 2 reflecting an intergovernmental agreement with the South Adams County Water & Santitation District to add an irrigation line was approved November 7, 2016.  The third and final amendment incorporating Package 2 - balance of the Building construction was approved December 19, 2016. The GMP Contract resolutions also provided for a 5% owner contingency to be managed at the discretion of the City Manager.  On February 5, 2018, a new resolution will be presented to increase the authorization of the City Manager up to the amount of the remaining construction budget.
