RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR 2017 CONCRETE PAVEMENT REHABILITATION AND QUEBEC STREET SIDEWALK

Summary and Background Information: The work to be performed under this contract includes removal and replacement of concrete pavement sections in designated locations of Quebec Street and E. 104th Avenue. The contract also includes installing an eight-foot-wide sidewalk on the west side of Quebec Street from 5465 Quebec Street to south of 5275 Quebec Street and repair designated locations of sidewalk, curb and gutter. Bids were opened and read publicly at 2:00 p.m. on December 27, 2017. Six bids were received. Silva Construction was determined to be the lowest responsive bidder. Staff is recommending that the City enter into a contract with Silva Construction for a contract amount of $288,729. Staff also recommends authorizing a project budget of an additional 10% ($28,873) as a contingency amount for a total authorization of $317,602.
