Title

A proclamation supporting first responders to traffic crashes and incidents, urging the public to drive safely, adhere to traffic laws, and respect the lives of responders who safeguard those at the scene of a crash

Body

Summary and Background InformationIn September, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) received the findings of a multi-disciplinary task force created by Gov. Hickenlooper to review first responder safety. At the meeting, the DRCOG Board - including Councilman Teter - expressed an interest in recognizing first responders.

To that end, DRCOG staff prepared the attached resolution for consideration by member local governments. The resolution declares support for the important work of first responders in responding to traffic crashes and incidents, highlighting the responsibility of the traveling public to change behavior to ensure their safety. The DRCOG approved a similar resolution during their Nov. 15 Board meeting.
