National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (HHAW) Proclamation

Body

Summary and Background InformationHunger and Homelessness Awareness week is held each year the week before Thanksgiving. National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week serves as an important reminder that for many children, families, seniors, veterans and others in Colorado and the City of Commerce City, a lack of food or a safe, stable place to call home are preventing them from reaching their full potential. In 2017 Hunger and Homelessness week is focused on specific steps that individuals and local governments can take to prevent Coloradans from experiencing homelessness and hunger.

In partnership with the State of Colorado, many organizations, and Hunger Free Colorado, are committed to building well-being by connecting residents to available services, implementing public policy initiatives, and encouraging all Coloradans to speak up and lend a hand so that Colorado and the City of Commerce City can be a place where everyone has a safe place to call home and enough food to eat.
