Title

AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO THE CITY OF COMMERCE CITY CERTAIN CONTIGUOUS UNINCORPORATED AND MUNICIPALLY-OWNED TERRITORY DESCRIBED IN EXHIBIT “A” GENERALLY LOCATED ALONG THE HIGHWAY 2 RIGHT-OF-WAY FROM EAST 80TH AVENUE, TO JUST SOUTH OF THE INTERSECTION OF HIGHWAY 2 AND INTERSTATE 76.

Body

Summary and Background Information: The City of Commerce City is requesting approval for the annexation of 69.39 acres that consists of portions of the Highway 2 right-of-way from E 80th Avenue, to just south of the intersection of Highway 2 and Interstate 76. The subject properties will be utilized as additional right-of-way for the city’s expansion of Highway 2 from two lanes to four lanes. Two additional annexations (AN-242-17 and AN-243-17) are being processed concurrently with this request, in order to meet Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS) contiguity requirements for annexations.

The subject properties are currently designated as right-of way. The City of Commerce City does not assign zoning designations to right-of-way, therefore there will be no associated zoning case with this annexation. As this is a city owned property and city initiated annexation, no annexation petition will be required as part of this request.
