Title

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8-1104 OF THE COMMERCE CITY REVISED MUNICIPAL CODE to eliminate state imposed distance restrictions

Body

Summary and Background InformationCircumstances have changed dramatically over the past decade as it relates to alcohol uses.  More than ever, eating, drinking, and lodging establishments are a priority of this community.  In an effort to make the city more ‘business friendly’ and to respond to updating our regulations to be in-line with surrounding jurisdictions and state laws, the following update is proposed to Commerce City Revised Municipal Code: Eliminate the statutory 500' distance restriction between liquor-licensed establishments and any public or parochial school or the principal campus of any college, university or seminary.  Council held a study session in March 2017 to discuss how the 500' distance restriction between schools and liquor-licensed establishments affect Council Goal #1:  Develop a balanced and vibrant economy to improve socioeconomic status.
