Title
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8-1104 OF THE COMMERCE CITY REVISED MUNICIPAL CODE to eliminate state imposed distance restrictions
Body
Summary and Background Information: Circumstances have changed dramatically over the past decade as it relates to alcohol uses. More than ever, eating, drinking, and lodging establishments are a priority of this community. In an effort to make the city more ‘business friendly’ and to respond to updating our regulations to be in-line with surrounding jurisdictions and state laws, the following update is proposed to Commerce City Revised Municipal Code: Eliminate the statutory 500' distance restriction between liquor-licensed establishments and any public or parochial school or the principal campus of any college, university or seminary. Council held a study session in March 2017 to discuss how the 500' distance restriction between schools and liquor-licensed establishments affect Council Goal #1: Develop a balanced and vibrant economy to improve socioeconomic status.
