Summary and Background Information

Xcel Energy and United Power own and maintain over 3,500 street lights in the city. Through franchise agreements with each, the City is responsible for electrical and maintenance costs on all. This overview will provide information on Xcel and United Power’s efforts to maintain street lights, repair downed lights, and conversion to LED (light emitting diode) bulbs. Staff will also provide information on standards for new installations.
