2017 Mosquito Control Program Overview

Summary and Background Information:
The city oversees a comprehensive Integrated Mosquito Management Program. The program has been developed specifically to reduce the mosquito population in Commerce City and decrease the risk of West Nile Virus (WNV) transmission. A private contractor traps and monitors the West Nile Virus through collection systems that are set throughout the community. The traps are periodically analyzed to determine an appropriate treatment program that addresses mosquito nuisance and disease prevention. Staff will provide an update on the 2017 program.
