Recreation Facility Naming Contest Review & Recommendation

Summary and Background Information:
Upon recommendation from the Commerce City Parks, Recreation & Golf (PRG) Advisory Committee, a PRG Advisory Committee representative will share the proposed name(s) for the new recreation center and existing Commerce City Recreation Center. The presentation will review the facility naming policy (Council Policy #CP-7 adopted by on 9/15/14), the steps that have been taken to get the recommendation, and the recommended name(s).
The public was encouraged to submit facility naming ideas within three categories:
1. Name associated with geographical location
2. Name honoring an individual (or organization) that has made a significant contribution to the field of parks, recreation & golf in Commerce City
3. Thematic/Other

Staff Recommendation: City Council to take action at a future Council Meeting and/or provide direction regarding next steps in accordance with Council Policy #CP-7 specific to the proposed name(s) for the new and existing recreation facilities as recommended by the Parks, Recreation & Golf Advisory Committee.
