Summary and Background Information:
The city receives numerous requests from the public related to traffic signals including installation of new ones, timing modifications and pedestrian phases. Council has also requested information in the past on upgrading existing signals to have the flashing yellow arrow (FYA) arrangement for protected & permissive left turns. This presentation will give an overview of the City’s signal infrastructure, how timing plans are developed, and the city’s plans to implement the FYA. Warrants for new traffic signal installations will also be reviewed.
