Summary and Background Information: Commerce City applied for and received, as part of a coalition of government and non-profit entities as the Northeast Metro Coalition ("NE Metro Coalition"), a planning grant through the Inspire Initiative of the state GOCO trust fund to conduct planning for a project to improve youth and family connections with the outdoors in underserved communities near the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in October 2015.

In October 2015, GOCO awarded planning grants to 20 statewide coalitions; these include 6 pilot coalitions and 14 Tier Two coalitions. The NE Metro Coalition was selected as one of the six pilot coalitions.

In July 2016, the GOCO Board released the Implementation application for the Inspire Initiative allocating up to $13.5 million dollars for distribution to the six eligible pilot coalitions over the next three years. As one of the six pilot coalitions, the NE Metro Coalition is eligible to apply for an implementation grant to be awarded in December 2016.

The City of Commerce City is applying for, as part of a coalition of government and non-profit entities, an implementation grant through the Inspire Initiative of the State Board of the Great Outdoors Colorado Trust Fund (“GOCO”) for completion of a three (3) year implementation program of the projects identified in the planning process involving Places, Programs and Pathways to improve youth and family connections with the outdoors in underserved communities near the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.
