Title
Proclamation declaring August 15 - 19, 2016, as Safety Net Clinic Week
Body
Summary and Background Information: The proposed proclamation recognizes the important role Colorado's Community Safety Net and federally-certified Rural Health Care Clinics provide underserved populations. Kids First Health Care, is a community-based nonprofit agency that provides high quality, accessible primary and preventative health care services to children and youth ages birth to 21 in Commerce City and the surrounding areas; outreach and enrollment services; and school nursing services. Nearly all of the children served are from low-income, uninsured and underinsured families, providing a critical safety net for those who may otherwise have nowhere to turn for health care. Since its creation in 1978, Kids First has provided more than 149,000 health care visits to approximately 58,000 children. Kids First Health Care representatives will be in attendance to share information on activities surrounding Safety Net Clinic Week.
