RESOLUTION APPROVING CONVEYANCE OF CITY PROPERTY TO BRIGHTON SCHOOL DISTRICT 27J

Body

Summary and Background Information

The 27J School District intends to construct Elementary School #12 in the Reunion development at the corner of Richfield Street and E. 111th Avenue and needs to have the property transferred from city ownership to school district ownership. According to Section 4.14 of the city’s home rule charter, city-owned property may be conveyed only by resolution passedby majority vote of the entire council in office at the time the vote is taken.

The 27J Elementary School #12 property was created as part of the Reunion Filing #25 subdivision (recorded 8/14/15). At the time of the plat’s recording, the property was dedicated to the city to hold until the School District is ready to develop the property. With the passage of the School District’s bond program in 2015, they are now ready to move forward with construction of the school.

The resolution is to update the previously approved resolution in May, due to an incorrect deed attached.
