Summary and Background Information:
This is the seventh session in a series on design of the new recreation center. Numerous options for the new recreation center (orientation, size / configuration, and styles) have been presented to City Council in study sessions on Jan 25, Feb 8, Feb 22, Mar 14, Mar 28 and April 25. The purpose of this session will be to review the current site layout and floorplan based upon final schematic design. A workshop session will be held to explore pool features and interior finishes.
There will be an overview of the Sink Combs Dethlefs contract amendment ahead of formal action on June 6th. It was agreed to include all stretch goals, a larger gymnasium, larger community room and an outdoor fitness deck in the design of the new recreation center. These changes resulted in the construction budget increasing from $21.5 M to $33.9 M. SCD’s fee was based upon 6.25% of the construction budget. They are proposing a fee increase from $1,346,390 to $2,125,595 based upon 6.25% of revised construction budget. They are also requesting an increase from $9,500 to $20,000 for FF&E procurement based upon the larger facility and unchanged indirect costs for a total amended contract value of $2,190,595.
