Body

Summary and Background Information

The city is requesting approval for the rezoning of roughly 25 acres that is the future location of the Northern Range Recreation Center. The property to be zoned is located north of E. 112th Avenue, south and east of Highway 2 and just west of the future Second Creek Park Site.  The property is currently zoned with a PUD (Planned Unit Development) zoning designation, as a part of the Turnberry Development and is requested to be rezoned to Commerce City Public. The current PUD zoning does not allow a public use, such as a recreation center.

The submittal of this application is part of the required process to design, construct, and open the new recreation center.  This new recreation center will serve the needs of a growing city, representing a centerpiece amenity for the community and will continue to transform the development and image of the area.
