Title

RESOLUTION APPROVING APPLICATION FOR A GRANT FROM THE FEDERAL LANDS ACCESS PROGRAM

Body

Summary and Background Information:  On May 9th, parks staff presented a trails update to City Council which included information on the FLAP grant.  Commerce City would be a partner in this grant application which includes several projects in Denver and Commerce City.  The Commerce City projects include two new entrances to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge (RMANWR), an overlook at Henderson Hill, and some trail work near the entrance to the refuge.  If the grant is received, nearly $480,000 would be spent in Commerce City and a maximum match of just over $80,000 would be requested from the city.  This match would come out of trail funds already allocated through the CIP process from the Park Impact Fee.  If the grant is received, the funding may be awarded in 2017, 2018 or 2019.
