Proclamation declaring May 15- 21, 2016, as Public Works Week in Commerce City

Body

Summary and Background Information

Commerce City is joining communities nationwide this month to recognize National Public Works Week (NPWW) May 15 - 21. Simply put, there would be no community without the quality of life public works provides. Whether it is maintaining roads and bridges, plowing snow, or managing the many construction projects taking place in Commerce City, the Public Works Department is an integral part of how our city functions.  Due to the essential nature of public works service, the theme for this year’s celebration is “Public Works Always There.”  The proclamation recognizes the work of the Public Works Department, including a community open house on June 16, 2016. Residents and council members are invited to celebrate NPWW June 16, 2016 any time from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The open house will provide guests with opportunities to tour the facility, paint snow plows, see how signs are made, hop into one of our plow trucks and learn more about how the Public Works Department serves Commerce City.  Music, free food, games and contests are also planned.
