Title
Recognition of CARA Volleyball Teams
Body
Summary and Background Information: The Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics (CARA) is a subsection of the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association. The CARA section was created and designed to be a program with a strong recreational format for the non-ranked, non-sanctioned participant. CARA holds local, regional, and state competitions in youth and adult athletics throughout the state. Although competition is a component of the CARA program and all participants are encouraged to perform to the best of their ability, it is emphasized that this is of secondary importance. The development of skills and sportsmanship, while including all participants with any level of experience is of primary concern.
This past spring season Commerce City had five teams participate in CARA state volleyball tournaments held throughout the metro area on May 16th. All of our teams worked very hard and showed good sportsmanship throughout the entire season. Two Commerce City teams actually won their respective divisions. Coach Nikki Teter and her 3rd-5th grade team won the A division state tournament and Randy Ray and his 6th-8th grade team won the D division state tournament.
