Summary and Background Information:
The City and South Adams Water and Sanitation District instituted a Water Commission in 2009. The commission meets at least quarterly and includes two members of City Council, two members of the District Board of Directors and executive level staff and attorneys from each entity. At a meeting of the commission in 4th quarter, 2014, it was determined that the district staff would prepare a detailed, formal presentation on the status of existing and proposed water supplies and demands for the future. Jim Jones, General Manager reviewed the presentation with city staff, the Water Commission, and the District Board of Directors. The intent of this agenda item is to review the presentation with City Council in a public, regular meeting. The City Council is encouraged to ask questions about the presentation on June 1, keeping in mind that some items related to the city water portfolio and long-term water supply development strategies should remain confidential.
City staff and outside counsel will schedule an executive session to instruct negotiators at the June 15, 2015 City Council meeting to continue the discussion and receive direction on confidential matters related to water.
