Title
AN ORDINANCE adopting the commerce city historic preservation plan
Body
Summary and Background Information:
The Commerce City Historic Preservation Plan (HPP) is a strategic plan that aims to guide historic preservation efforts in the City of Commerce City. The creation of the plan was directed by City Council in the fall of 2012 and since that time staff has worked hard to establish a Technical Advisory Group (TAG), meet with the Commerce City Historical Society, and conduct outreach to the residents of Commerce City. Taking into consideration all of the stakeholder's comments, the plan provides general information related to historic preservation, a high-level account of the history of Commerce City, and it makes specific recommendations for the effective implementation of historic preservation in the City.

Over the course of the planning process, residents and stakeholders voiced numerous suggestions and wide-ranging ideas. Many suggestions were evaluated and incorporated into the document. However, not every suggestion could be addressed through the HPP process. There were 17 different opportunities for public input during this process, representing numerous hours of outreach.

As with any good strategic plan, the HPP is intended to be a living document. That means that this plan can be amended over time as new information becomes available and circumstances change. The implementation strategies in the HPP should be evaluated periodically and amended as needed.

Attached is a copy of the Commerce City Historic Preservation Plan, which will be discussed this evening.
