Title
2015 Trash Contract Bid Options
Body
Summary and Background Information:
The 2009 Municipal Trash and Recyclables Collection Agreement officially expired on December 31, 2013. The contract was extended for one additional year with City Council's direction to go out to competitive bid and award a new contract for 2015. This presentation is intended to provide service options for the City Council to consider for inclusion in the formal Request for Proposal.
Base Service:
• Unlimited weekly trash service
• Bi-weekly curbside recycling
• Two (2) 18-gallon recycling totes provided per unit for recycling
• Homeowners provide their own bags and trash receptacles
• Free large item pick-up
• Trash and recycling services for all City facilities
Add Alternates:
1. Eliminate free large item pick-up
2. Eliminate fee large item pick-up and provide one city-wide clean-up event
3. Provide one (1) 96-gallon refuse container per unit
4. Provide one (1) 96-gallon recycling container per unit
These options are being considered based on historical comments and questions from City Council to help manage costs while still providing essential refuse collection services.
