Proclamation declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month

Summary and Background Information:
The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Adams and Broomfield counties is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that trains and supervises community volunteers to represent the best interests of our most vulnerable citizens - child victims of physical, sexual or emotional abuse and neglect. Each year, more than 1,300 children in Adams and Broomfield counties require CASA volunteers to speak up for their best interests. CASA hosts a Blue Light Project each April to show support for the organization, the children they serve and promote Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention month. The CASA requests City Council to recognize the month of April as Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention month to help further their outreach efforts.
