Summary and Background Information:
A resolution approving an IGA with South Adams County Water and Sanitation District will be considered during the regular City Council meeting on April 7.
Implementation of the 2004 IGA
• Commerce City and SACWSD entered into IGA April 28, 2004
• IGA addressed utilities and land area planning
- General Service Area (GSA)
- Rocky Mountain Arsenal (RMA Lands)
• Recently, identified a need to outline parameters for addressing small requests for public water and sewer service
• Fall, 2013 -Water Commission discussed a document to memorialize working relationship
• Staff and associated counsel from the city and district developed IGA to further implement the 2004 IGA
- Several meetings and drafts exchanged
- Reviewed with Water Commission Feb. 20
- SACWSD Board discussed Mar. 12
- City Council study session Mar. 24
Execution of a new agreement with the district may include several benefits:
• Allows for more efficient implementation of IGA for small properties
• Protects city's standard allocations; saves water resources for use within the city
• Requires participation in GID if GID facilities are needed to serve the property
• Improves communications with developers
