Title

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING VARIOUS SECTIONS OF ARTICLE IV OF CHAPTER 5 OF THE COMMERCE CITY REVISED MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADD PROJECT TYPES AND CONSTRUCTION THRESHOLDS ELIGIBLE FOR BUILDING PERMIT EXEMPTIONS AND TO ADD TECHNICAL FOOTNOTES IN AMENDED INTERNATIONAL CODES PREVIOUSLY ADOPTED BY REFERENCE

Body

Summary and Background Information

Administrative provisions of the Building Code, as printed "out of the box" by the International Code Council, list project types and construction thresholds that are exempt from obtaining a building permit. The proposed amendments to the Municipal Code expand and clarify this list. Exemptions are for small and/or temporary projects that, while still required to meet the applicable provisions of the building code, have a successful history of compliance without building department oversight.

This amendment also includes a housekeeping measure to correct an error that occurred in the adoption process in 2019 that omitted an important footnote from the plumbing provisions regarding acceptable materials for underground buried pipes.
