Summary and Background Information:
The mission of the Youth Commission is to serve as the voice of Commerce City youth by generating and acting on ideas to inspire a better community today and tomorrow. The Youth Commission's activities include:
• Advising City Council on matters related to youth;
• Completing community services projects;
• Earning volunteer credit;
• Advising Parks, Recreation and Golf (PRG) on future programming and activities;
• Participating in professional development and team bonding activities; and
• Learning Robert's Rues of Order
The Youth Commission consists of 26 voting members (20 youth members, 2 councilmembers and 4 adult, resident representatives). The Youth Commission receives dedicated staff support from the Community Relations Liaison in the City Manager’s Office and the Recreation Coordinator of Family and Enrichment Programs in the Parks, Recreation and Golf Department.
