Title
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE COMMERCE CITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN
Body
Summary and Background Information:
The proposed Commerce City Economic Development Strategic Plan establishes priorities and actions for the City of Commerce City with a focus on near-term items over the next five years. The plan aligns city efforts with the City Council’s goal of promoting a balanced, thriving and inclusive city economy which cultivates, attracts, and retains business. The plan was drafted by Community Attributes, Inc. with input from hundreds of residents and key stakeholders through public meetings, surveys, and focus groups, including three meetings with the City Council, in January, March and June of 2024.
As a planning and policy document, the Commerce City Economic Development Strategic Plan was also reviewed by the Planning Commission at their September 3rd regular meeting. The Commission recommended approval with conditions. Namely, they noted that on Page 26, Action 1.3.5 refers to celebrating Commerce City’s diverse population, then refers to three potential events celebrating the same population. Rather than provide an incomplete list, they recommended simply ending the sentence after, “Commerce City’s diverse population.”, and recommended approval with that one change.
