CU-111-15:  UPS Ground Freight, Inc. is requesting a conditional use permit in order to expand the existing transportation terminal located on lot 1 of the proposed UPS Ground Freight Subdivision at 5300 East 56th Avenue, zoned I-1.

Summary and Background Information

The applicant, UPS Ground Freight, is requesting a conditional use permit to expand the existing transportation terminal on the property located at 5300 E. 56th Avenue, zoned I-1.  The property has been operated as a transportation terminal since it was constructed in the 1960s.  UPS Ground Freight is proposing an addition of 8,750 square-feet to the transportation terminal facility on the property to improve efficiency for the operation.  There is a concurrent subdivision plat proposed for the subject property to create 2 legal and conforming lots (S-636-15).  The proposed conditional use permit is only being requested for Lot 1 of the proposed final plat.

Planning Commission Recommendation

On June 16, 2015, the Planning Commission held a public hearing, took testimony, and voted (5-0) to forward the conditional use permit request to City Council with a favorable recommendation, subject to the findings of fact.
